Written analysis of opening squence

This opening sequence gives an idea of what techniques should be used in our film, the different camera shots, the lighting used in the scene used to create a certain mood and meaning. These techniques are key in film noir as the low key lighting, such as in 'Sin City' represents the corruption and mood in the city.

Audience Research

The audience research has helped to determine what type of audience the film should be aimed at, it gives an idea of what it should include such as stylish cinematography and stylishness of the acting.

Brief history of Film Noir

I have learned that Film Noir stems from German Expressionism which existed between the 1910s and 1920s. I have also learned that the first major Noir film was the Maltese Falcon which was released in 1941. I now have ideas of what should be in my scene, such as motivation for crime and themes that are relevant from the Great Depression.

Conventions of Film Noir
